Bollywood star Dutt seeks marriage annulment

From AFP
"Sanjay Dutt and Manyata on Wednesday filed a joint declaration... stating they do not desire to solemnise their marriage under the Portuguese civil code, 1867," said the official, quoting from an affidavit filed by the couple.

He said the couple cited technical reasons for their request to the court.

It was not immediately known whether the pair would seek to remarry.

The bride was also alleged to have forged residence documents to marry in Goa.

Does Aishwarya Rai look fat?

Robot director Shankar has asked Aishwarya Rai to shed 6 kg weight to be in shape for her role in the Sci-fi film that also stars Rajnikanth.

But that is not the news. The real news is that Aishwarya has already started to loose the weight, through gymming and dieting, ending recent tabloid speculation that she is pregnant and has withdrawn from the film. [SAWF]

Oscars: The Winners are!

Best Animated Film of the Year
- Persepolis
- Ratatouille
- Surf's Up
WINNER: "Ratatouille". I haven't seen those other movies but apparently they sucked. They didn't even win the Academy Award. How embarrassing.

Best Original Song
- "Falling Slowly" from Once
- "Happy Working Song" from Enchanted
- "So Close" from Enchanted
- "That's How You Know" from Enchanted
- "Raise It Up" from August Rush
WINNER: "Falling Slowly" from "Once". To say they won be default is an understatement. Those Enchanted songs were awful. Was there not a scene in a movie this year where someone died and laid on their car horn for two minutes, because that would have won easily.

Best Adapted Screenplay
- Christopher Hampton, Atonement
- Sarah Polley, Away From Her
- Ronald Harwood, The Diving Bell and The Butterfly
- Joel Coen & Ethan Coen, No Country For Old Men
- Paul Thomas Anderson, There Will Be Blood
WINNER: Joel Coen & Ethan Coen, "No Country For Old Men". I just noticed that Sarah Polley was nominated here. The actress. From Dawn of the Dead. Adapting screenplays must be incredibly easy, because actors are fucking idiots.

Best Original Screenplay
- Diablo Cody, Juno
- Nancy Oliver, Lars and the Real Girl
- Tony Gilroy, Michael Clayton
- Brad Bird, Ratatouille
- Tamara Jenkins, The Savages
WINNER: Diablo Cody, "Juno". Think back for a second to the last 10 movies you’ve seen. Does it really seem like anyone in Hollywood has any idea how to choose a good screenplay.

Best Supporting Actor
- Casey Affleck, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
- Javier Bardem, No Country for Old Men
- Philip Seymour Hoffman, Charlie Wilson's War
- Hal Holbrook, Into the Wild
- Tom Wilkinson, Michael Clayton
WINNER: Javier Bardem, "No Country for Old Men". I liked his hair. It looked like dog ears. Like Snoopy. And who doesn’t love Snoopy? If I had him in a movie I would give him another dumb haircut just to watch him go all apeshit.

Best Supporting Actress
- Cate Blanchett, I'm Not There
- Ruby Dee, American Gangster
- Saoirse Ronan, Atonement
- Amy Ryan, Gone Baby Gone
- Tilda Swinton, Michael Clayton
WINNER: Tilda Swinton, "Michael Clayton". I'm amazed they didn’t give it to Blanchett. They love her even though she sucks. She’s so gimmicky. Isla Fisher should have won. I don’t know for what but she’s awesome.

Best Actor
- George Clooney, Michael Clayton
- Daniel Day-Lewis, There Will Be Blood
- Johnny Depp, Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
-
Tommy Lee Jones, In the Valley of Elah
- Viggo Mortensen
, Eastern Promises
WINNER: Daniel Day-Lewis, "There Will Be Blood". It's alarming to see DDL out of charaetcer. He's so god damn good. So many people just do the same thing again and again and again. (i'm looking at you Morgan Freeman)

Best Actress
- Cate Blanchett, Elizabeth: The Golden Age
- Julie Christie, Away from Her
- Marion Cotillard, La Vie en Rose
- Laura Linney, The Savages
- Ellen Page, Juno
WINNER Marion Cotillard, "La Vie en Rose". Oh, I bet we see a lot of her from now on. These awards are like a rocketship to stardom!

Best Director
- Julian Schnabel, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
- Jason Reitman, Juno
- Tony Gilroy, Michael Clayton
- Joel Coen and Ethan Coen, No Country for Old Men
- Paul Thomas Anderson, There Will Be Blood
WINNER Joel Coen and Ethan Coen, "No Country for Old Men". Little known fact: directors don’t even really do anything.

Best Motion Picture of the Year
- Atonement
- Juno
- Michael Clayton
- No Country for Old Men
- There Will Be Blood
WINNER "No Country for Old Men". Just the fact that Atonement was nominated is a disgrace. It's seventy or eighty times worse than watching no movie at all.

Aishwarya and Abhishek to work together again

After 'Guru', Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai will team up again for Mani Ratnam's next venture. Based on real life characters, the movie will be an intense love story.

This will be Abhishek and Ratnam's third film together. After the terrific partnership they shared during 'Yuva', which Abhishek describes as his career's first turning point, and 'Guru', which he acknowledges as his second turning point, it doesn't require much calculation to see the creative and commercial viability of the Abhishek-Ratnam pair.

Ratnam will start shooting for the film in Sep. with Abhishek and Aishwarya.

According to a source close to the project, 'It's going to be a very intense love story. 'Guru' was more of a biopic with a cavalcade of characters claiming screen space, but this film will focus primarily on the romance. It's a very intense film and Mani's most romantic film to date. It is based on real life characters.'

Romesh Sharma sentenced to life in prison

Bollywood actor ROMESH SHARMA has been handed a life sentence for conspiracy to murder his fashion designer girlfriend. The 50-year-old and five accomplices - including his nephew Surinder Mishra - were convicted of plotting to kill 29-year-old Kunjum Budhiraja almost nine years ago (99). Special Prosecutor S.K. Saxena had demanded the death penalty to all of the accused, but the judge turned the request down. In a 175-page judgment, Sessions Judge S. P. Garg cited circumstantial evidence as the vital reason for convicting the actor. He said in his order, "I have gone through the contents of all the letters written by Kunjum and found that she was having love and affection for Sharma." He further stated the contents of all those letters supported the prosecution in establishing the relationship between the designer and Sharma. Sharma has been in judicial custody since 1999 and is facing trial in up to 16 other criminal cases.

Tuesday Deadline for Sanjay and Manyata

The Goa Government has given Sanjay Dutt and Manyata until Tuesday to submit a clarification on why they think there court marriage should not be canceled. In Manyata's registration for marriage she listed her residence to be at Aquem, Margao.

Hopefully, this story will be out of the headlines soon.

Shah Rukh Khan wants to cater to kids

New Delhi, Feb 15 (IANS) Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan, who is all set to make a children's film in the VFX medium, using computer-generated special effects, says he is overwhelmed by the response he gets from children and wants to cater to them.

'I love kids and I am overwhelmed by the response I get from children. Adults like me by chance,' Shah Rukh Khan told IANS.

'I have maintained my love for kids since long and want to cater to them because they have the shortest attention span. I want to make a place in the hearts of the little ones and then I will automatically reach the families. As children handle the remote control these days, everyone has to watch what they like.

'Theatre director Barry John, my acting teacher at Delhi Theatre, used to say: 'if you can capture the interest of kids, you will be always successShahrukh Khanful' and I stick to that,' he added.

Shah Rukh was recently in Berlin to promote 'Om Shanti Om' and was interviewed by Hollywood trade magazine Variety. The magazine reported that the proposed children's film would be made at a budget of $25 million (Rs.1 billion), the highest budget in India.

But commenting here about the money to be spent on making the film, Shah Rukh said: 'Media is speculating about the budget. We are still working on the script.'

The actor, also the owner of the Kolkata team franchisee Red Chillies Entertainment, said through all these initiatives - investment in sports and VFX film - he wants to do something for the country which has given him so much.

'My dream is to invest money and bring better technology in our country that has given me money, love, respect... everything one can ask for! Not only cricket, we want to invest in all kind of games.

'I think if children are allowed to play all the time along with little bit of studies, 'creative' aggression would develop in them. It would prevent them from indulging in vices like smoking, drinking or drugs.'

And when is the superstar planning to kick the butt!

'I have been trying to kick the butt since long. But it is very difficult to give up bad habits. And I can't be dishonest in saying I will quit smoking and then don't do it.'

'However, I would appeal to children that they must not pick up this habit from me, as fans have a tendency to imitate their favourite stars. This is a bad habit and is injurious to health. They must never do it,' he stressed.

King Khan is now set to host a television quiz show 'Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hain' and says the medium doesn't matter because he is an entertainer.

'I started my career with television and with time the small screen is becoming better. However, being a jester, my idea is to entertain by films, by stage shows... by all possible formats.'

Everyday is Valentine's day for Abhishek & Aishwarya

Abhishek & Aishwarya didn't get to spend Valentine's day together but apparently every day is like V-day for the couple. Actually, let me clarify... every day = whenever one of them has free time. It sounds like they have a great relationship.

"What a wonderful Valentine's Day gift (the premiere of 'Jodhaa Akbar'). Everyone who has seen 'Jodhaa Akbar' feels it is the perfect love story. And it doesn't really matter if Abhishek couldn't make it. For us, every day is Valentine's Day. Every time we're together, it's Valentine's Day,' Aishwarya told IANS."
"His schedules are gruelling and so are mine. We're trying to spend as much time together as possible. Whenever I've some time off I join him wherever he is shooting. I've been to Jaipur where he has been shooting for the past few months,' the actress said."

Saif Ali Khan injures his right hand

'Yeah, I injured my right hand while shooting in Greece. I put a glass down too hard after a drink. And it broke in my hand. It's no big deal. The only thing is that I can't shake hands. Fortunately, it didn't affect my guitar-playing,' said the actor whose 'Ta Ra Rum Pum' and 'Eklavya - The Royal Guard' bombed last year.

Saif says those who constantly ask him about the 'Kareena' tattoo annoy him.

'On the other hand, you can't really blame them, I suppose it's a big deal. So people will talk about it for sometime and then stop talking after a while. You got to remove yourself from the place of discomfort and look at it more dispassionately.'

He was aware that the media would focus on the tattoo rather than his music when he performed at the concerts. 'Fortunately, the audience appreciated the music. Look, the limelight is a moving spotlight. Once in a while, you are caught in it.'

The Slap heard around the world!

Ok well... not really heard around the world! In a recent interview Mammootty explained what really happened...

'I could sense that the passion was running high when I arrived for the promo because my new film was running in several theatres across north Kerala. The fans were excited to see me and for me, fans mean everything. Seeing the mood and the fervour of my fans, I opened the roof of my car and stood up,' Mammootty recalled.

'As soon as I stood up, fans rushed to my moving car and wanted to touch me. Isn't it a natural thing to happen? Stars are often mobbed. But soon I noticed that things were moving out of control and people were coming closer to my car. I was really concerned about the safety of those who were near my car and I started warning them,' Mammootty said.

So, is he saying that he slapped a fan because he was concerned for their safety? I'm going to start slapping everyone the next time I am in a crowded place and then I will explain to the cops that I was really concerned for everyones safety.

Shah Rukh Khan missing credit card

So, if you haven't heard already... Shah Rukh lost his credit card and 3 men went on a shopping spree. Only to be caught by a sales person who noticed the name on the credit card. Anyway, now the Mumbai police want to ask Shah Rukh a few questions to figure out what charges were fraudulent. More info below...

"Mumbai Police will quiz Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan to unravel the mystery of his missing credit card, which was recently found with three people who used it to buy branded apparel worth Rs.25,000.According to Mulund police station senior police inspector Prakash Landge, the police have also sought the statements of all the transactions on Shah Rukh's card in the past few weeks to ascertain whether more fraudulent transactions have taken place." - by Indo-Asian News Service

Is Sanjay Dutt's wedding invalid?

Apparently, the MPL (Muslim Personal Law) states that the marriage between Sanjay and Manyata is not legal (Manyata's real name is Shehnaaz Shaikh). According to the MPL, a Muslim woman cannot marry a man out side of her religion unless she decides to change her religion.

What year are we living in?

Also, authorities in Goa are also questioning the marriage as Manyata managed to get a residence certificate without ever living in the state. For any marriage to be registered in Goa, one of the couple has to be a Goan resident, which needs to be certified by the local authorities.

So much Drama!

Lukewarm reviews for Jodhaa Akbar

Rate this Movie:

So, it looks like the most hyped up movie of the year received lukewarm reviews in Mumbai. I had a feeling this movie would be an average movie at best. I still haven't seen it and I most likely won't see it. Anyway... here is the link to the full story on Yahoo.

Sanjay Dutt marries Manyata

So, it looks like Sanjay Dutt got married. He actually got married on Feb. 7th but I just saw the pictures for the first time today. It doesn't look like Sanjay Dutt is aging to well. Look at those bags under his eyes.

Dutt reportedly gave Manyata a diamond ring worth Rs 40 lakh! I have no idea how much that is and I don't feel like doing the conversion to U.S. dollars. Can someone convert that to U.S. dollars?

Jodhaa-Akbar

Is anyone going to see this movie this weekend? I posted the trailer to the movie below.
